According to a press release, “Idina Menzel: Which Way to the Stage” will follow Menzel as she tours the nation in order to realize her lifelong ambition of performing at Madison Square Garden in her beloved New York. With the documentary, which is scheduled to air on Disney+ on December 9, editor Anne McCabe will make her directing debut.

The documentary “Which Way to the Stage” will follow the career of singer and actress Idina Menzel, who first gained fame in the Broadway productions of “Rent” and “Wicked” before landing the role of Elsa in Disney’s “Frozen.” It will include never-before-seen performance footage, interviews, and home videos of Menzel as a seven-year-old aspiring singer. The documentary “pulls back the curtain on her remarkable career, the incredible — and oftentimes laborious — moments that prepared her for her big breaks and the people who have supported her since the beginning,” the release teases. It will examine Menzel’s personal and professional evolution throughout her years on stage.

The Tony Award-winning actor will return to her role as the Queen of Andalasia in this year’s “Disenchanted,” which will make its Disney+ debut on November 24.

McCabe, a recipient of the American Cinema Editors’ Eddie award, edited the Marielle Heller films “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” and “Can You Ever Forgive Me,” as well as “Succession.” One of her forthcoming projects is “Boston Strangler,” which tells the tale of the journalist who linked the Boston Strangler’s killings. star is Keira Knightley.
